WHO: Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals Wide Receiver

CHARITY NAME(S): First Down Fund, Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund

CAUSES: What causes Larry doesn’t support is probably a better question. Summer youth programs, Oxfam, and the Red Cross have all benefited. Each year, Larry’s fans nominate charities to receive funding.

If you follow him on Instagram, you know that Larry is quite the world traveler. He has completed multiple USO tours and trips to support economic development projects in third-world countries. In 2013, he traveled to Ethiopia and Senegal with Roddy White (Falcons WR) and Anquan Bolden (49ers WR) through Oxfam. I would love to see this man’s passport.

We really love how much support Larry shows breast cancer organizations. The cause is close to him, as his mother passed away from breast cancer in 2003. The Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund supports causes that were important to his mom – urban youth education about HIV/AIDS, and breast cancer issues. Larry is a familiar face every October as part of the NFL’s Crucial Catch campaign and makes donations to breast cancer-related charities based on the number of touchdowns he makes. If that isn’t a reason to cheer for him, I don’t know what is.

His website sums up all his causes quite nicely: The Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund was established by Larry Fitzgerald Jr. to help kids and their families by funding positive activities for kids during the summer and throughout the year, supporting kids and families in crisis, and supporting health-related organizations that work with families.

Fitz’s Supper Club – I don’t know about you, but it’s always been a fantasy of mine to have a very buff man deliver a steaming hot steak to me. Larry Fitzgerald is out to make dreams come true with his annual celebrity waiter night at Dominick’s Steakhouse in Scottsdale, Arizona. Individual tickets will run you $600 a pop and sponsorship tables up to $30k each, but how else do you think they made over a quarter million dollars with this event in 2013?

Double Play Celebrity Softball Game – Every spring Larry invites all his (very famous) friends to play softball with him at Salt River Fields in Arizona. Funds are raised through ticket sales and memorabilia auctions at the event. Larry and friends sign autographs and take pictures with fans who attend. There’s even a VIP after-party. Swing!
